Visited here for a friends wedding and can happily say that I was very impressed!! The facilities were lovely and the cabins finished to a very high standard. I personally was staying in one of the cabins that has separate rooms each for individual hire, which were comfortable. I did however manage to see the family lodges as the bride and groom and the bride and grooms family had rented these and they were gorgeous, finished to a brilliant standard. The prices in the bar were to be expected but all in all only unreasonable. Lovely stay and would definitely go again.
Sunday lunch for 5 adults and 2 children. Food was really good, plentiful and tasty. Service was great. Nothing too much trouble. Very friendly staff.
Stayed for the weekend and whilst the place has much promise, there are a few issues which would make us think twice about coming back.Upon checking in, the room was occupied by around 56 flies - no windows were open, so we can only assume they had been there for a while. The shower ventilation system was broken, as was the toilet roll holder, and drainage from the shower was not great. The biggest issue however was the noise. The room we stayed in was on the bottom floor, and the noise from above was so annoying - there just wasn't the soundproofing one would expect. Footsteps, doors banging and everything in between could be heard. The bed was also just two single beds put together - we were under the impression it would be a double room. The TV was also damaged. The desk was also not managed at times, such as when we checked out for example. The place has great potential and the setting is lovely, however we felt it just wasn't worth the money.
I was at a wedding here, and may I say what a beautiful setting it is, the venue rooms are large and there is also a balcony if you want to relax with friends and family, there are two bar's, one up stairs and one down, there is also a lift for disabled access or people with prams. The only down side I had, was some of the food that put out was not cooked properly, and when I informed the manager she just told me she would ask the chef. Myself being a ex head chef for one of the leading hotels of the world, I know that a quiche should be firm when cooked, not sticky to the point it runs out the case. The manager never returned back to me and just left the food on display for everyone. Let's just say no one ate them.
Welcoming, lovely place. Enjoyed superb wedding last year & returned for anniversary celebrations 1 yr on.Great atmosphere, bar, staff & accommodation excellent set in beautiful back drop.
