The owner runs a pretty good cycle shop but he has one infuriating characteristic, which is so bad that I've stopped going there. When you call in he's often on the phone and he has no idea that a phone call can be purposeful and truncated after the necessary business is done. He just yacks on and on and doesn't even give you occasional eye contact to let you know that he's trying to get around to you. This is meant in a spirit of trying to help the owner, and I hope it does.
I broke the gear cable for my rear derailleur whilst on a cycling holiday on enroute from Beverley to Malton. Luckily, I was only a couple of miles away from Pocklington and was able make it to Cyclelane. I landed there at lunchtime and the gentleman working there dropped what he was doing to help me out. He warned that sometimes retrieving the broken part of the cable from the lever could be a bit fiddly, but he had a new cable fitted, the gears adjusted, and the bike wiped down, in no time at all. I was also pleasantly surprised at the low charge and suggested it could be more, but no, he said that was the cost. A great service at a very reasonable cost. People in the Pocklington are very lucky to have this bike shop in their area.
This shop saved my life on Saturday, my di2 battery had gone flat half way through a 100 miler. Although he was busy the owner dropped everything to help me. He wouldnt take payment even when we thrust it upon him. Great shop, ill be bringing my bike here from now on and buy my bit and pieces. thanks again Ross
I have been a customer of CycleLane for a number of years now and have been highly delighted with the 3 awesome bikes I have purchased from Nick in this time, (as well as the great bikes for both my kids).You would be hard pushed to find a more meticulous cycle mechanic than Nick in Yorkshire and probably further afield. His breadth of knowledge about cycles is greater than anyone else's I have ever met in my 35 years of cycling. Every bike I have bought from him has been measured up, fitted, prepped and maintained to the highest of standards. I couldn't recommend a cycle mechanic more than Nick.
